Shopee shop banner, cover and decoration sizes

The banner, carousel and category image sizes in Shopee’s own decoration guides, the file limits, and how to design a shop banner that reads on a phone.

In short

Shopee’s decoration guides give carousel images at 1200 × 600 pixels and banners at up to 600 × 600, each a JPG or PNG under 2 MB, but the size in Seller Centre’s upload box is the one to trust. Design one product and a short message, keep the important part in the middle, and publish the mobile and PC decorations separately.

What Shopee publishes, and what it doesn’t

A Shopee shop has more than listings: a profile with a logo, and a shop page you can decorate with banners, carousels and category images. Shopee’s current help pages explain the decoration tools, but give the image sizes only as pictures in the upload screens, with the advice to follow the restrictions on image dimensions and formats. The size shown in the upload box in Seller Centre is the one to trust.

What Shopee has published in text is in its own decoration guides, and they are a few years old. Use them as a starting point, then check the hint in the upload box.

The sizes in Shopee’s decoration guides

Component Size in Shopee’s guides How many
Carousel 1200 × 600 px (PH guide) 1 to 6 images, all the same size
Banner 345 × 345 px in the PH guide; 600 × 600 suggested in the Premium guide 2 images in a row
Image category 149 × 149 px in the PH guide; 300 × 300 suggested in the Premium guide 4 to 8 (PH), 4 to 10 (Premium)
Single image 1200 px wide, 100 to 2200 px tall (Premium guide) 1
Image file JPG or PNG, up to 2 MB (Shopee)

A few honest notes:

  • The guides disagree in places. One gives a single image as 750 px wide, another as 1200. The two “suggested” banner sizes differ. Design at the larger size and let the upload box tell you if it wants less.
  • Make it twice the size it shows at. A 600 × 600 banner shown in a half-width slot stays sharp on a high-resolution phone screen. Keep each file under 2 MB.
  • Carousel images must match. Shopee’s guide asks for every image in a carousel to have the same dimensions, so design them as a set.

Mobile and PC are separate

Shopee keeps the app and the website apart: you decorate and publish each one separately, and if you publish only one, the other shows the default shop page. You can copy a mobile draft to PC as a start. Decorating from the Shopee app, with its templates, replaces what you published from Seller Centre, and the other way round, so pick one place to work from.

Design for the app first, then copy the draft to PC and adjust it there.

Who can decorate

Basic shop decoration is offered to sellers in Seller Centre. Shopee describes Premium decoration, with more components and scheduled publishing, as available only to selected sellers. If you don’t see a component, it isn’t open to your shop yet.

  • Your profile holds the shop name, a description and up to 5 images and videos. The description can’t carry contact details or offers away from Shopee.
  • Your logo is also your profile picture. Shopee’s logo rules rule out Shopee’s own logo or mascot, anything that suggests Shopee endorses you, such as the Preferred label, and social or messaging links. A logo that breaks them is removed if it isn’t fixed within two weeks.

Design a banner that reads on a phone

A banner is seen small, for a second, between other shops. Design for that.

  1. One product, one message. Canva’s banner guide boils a banner down to the product, the logo and a short message, with a clear focal point.
  2. Few words, big type. Shopify warns that too much text makes a design hard to read, especially on mobile. A sale and a date is enough.
  3. Keep the important part in the middle. Shopify’s advice is to keep text, logos, products and faces centred in a safe zone, because edges get cropped on different screens.
  4. Contrast and your colours. Dark type on a light photo or the reverse, in the colours your shop already uses.
  5. Shrink it before you upload. Look at it at the size of a thumbnail on your phone. If the message isn’t clear at a glance, cut words until it is.

Shoot the photo for the banner

A banner photo needs room for words. Shoot the product to one side, on a thirds crossing, with the rest of the frame plain: the rule of thirds guide explains how. Shoot it wider than the banner, so you can crop to each component’s shape from one photo.

The listing photos and video

The shop page leads to the listings, and they have rules of their own:

Doing it in Stensa

Negative Space sets one small subject on the lower-right crossing and leaves the rest of the frame empty: the photo a banner’s words go beside. Hero Bottle stands one tall product on the left third, and Product Grid fits four products in a two-by-two grid for a bundle or a collection. Stensa exports Feed and Shop sizes from the same shot, so one photo crops to each component.
